Havre de Grace, considered the ‘True Crown of the Chesapeake Bay” is a charming, walkable town in Harford County, Maryland situated at the mouth of the Susquehanna River and the head of the Chesapeake Bay.
Smithsonian Magazine honored Havre de Grace as one of America’s 20 best small towns to visit in 2014.
It’s said General Lafayette (Revolutionary War hero) commented the area reminded him of the French seaport Le Havre-de-Grâce; which supposedly led to it’s renaming (French, “Harbor of Grace”).
